About me

After three years of education at the "Civica Scuola di Liuteria" in Milan I apply the old craft back in Berne.

My first contact with the guitar was by taking lessons for many years from Mike Horowitz in Bern who taught me a very open and passionate approach to music, mainly in the genres of Folk and Blues.
My first try at the construction of a guitar already took place in ninth grade. After my A-levels, an apprenticeship as a furniture maker at "Ehrenzeller & Kovatsch AG" and several years on the job I wanted to fully dedicate myself to my fascination for plucked string instruments and started the education in Milan as an instrument maker, which I finished in the summer of 2024.

As final thesis I had the chance to construct a theorbo after an original archlute of the year 1705, which I could measure at the "Museo degli Strumenti Musicali" in Milan (see more instruments, theorbo).

Parallel to the courses at the school for constructing instruments I lived in the urban quarter "Villapizzone" in Milan where I got the chance to do an internship in the workshop of guitarmaker Andrea Stanzione. I gained valuable insights into the construction of classic concert guitars, repairs and the setup of various plucked string instruments and accompanied him to guitar exhibitions in Italy.  He entrusted me with tasks for his orders while sharing his knowledge with great patience. To complete my training under him I also got a big insight into his cooking skills. Grazie Mille!

Now I'm looking forward to settle into my new workshop in Biel and I'm looking forward to the repair, setup or construction of various plucked string instruments!
